The latest project for
writer/director Michael Lander is the reimagining of Mario Bava’s cult classic Rabid Dogs. Lander directed the recently released
Lionsgate feature Peacock, which he co‐wrote with fellow “Black List” writer Ryan
Roy and was produced by the prominent Barry Mendel. A stellar cast was
assembled for the now critically acclaimed film consisting of Cillian Murphy, Ellen Page
and Susan Sarandon. Lander and Roy also caught the attention of Warner Bros. and
Leonardo DiCaprio’s production company, Appian Way, for their feature Kite, a
kinetic thriller about the prison industrial complex. Previously, Lander penned a
feature‐length script from his first short film, the award‐winning Solid Waste. This
project landed him a coveted spot in the prestigious Fox Searchlight young‐director
incubator. In addition, he has garnered extensive background as a production
manager and coordinator by working with the likes of Joe Pytka, RSA‐USA, and DNA. Lander is a California native who grew up working in his parent’s video
store, where the thousands of films at his fingertips helped him catch the celluloid
bug early. He lives in Santa Monica with his wife, Sally Sue.
