Hi, this is Dan, the Joke Sniper, with a supplemental note for this episode.

I had indeed told Joe I was willing to come on the show anytime and do a little joke-sniping, and when Joe referred to me as the Joke Sniper, Mike called me "Machine Gun," for some reason.

I'm not sure if that was just a case of "Mike being Mike," but I did have a follow-up comment on his "comment." Unfortunately, the follow-up wasn't funny, so I kept it to myself, but it is interesting, so I'm going to share it here.

An old Marine named Carlos Hathcock is one of the most celebrated snipers in all of U.S. military history. He fought in Vietnam and had 93 confirmed kills, including the assassination of a Vietnamese general that required three days of crawling through the jungle to reach the target.

Anyway, here is what I was getting at: Carlos Hathcock set the combat sniping distance record in Vietnam, with a shot from around 2,500 yards away, by mounting a sniper's scope on a machine gun and firing single shots at a time.

So, in that way, Mike stumbled backwards into giving me a very nice compliment, because Carlos Hathcock is one of my heroes, and he sniped with a machine gun. - Joke Sniper
